Obituary of Michael Arron Rutherford

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MICHAEL A. RUTHERFORD Michael Arron Rutherford, son of Kenneth P. and Jaclyn Lea (Sanborn) Rutherford, was born May 8, 1965, in Kansas City, Missouri, and passed away as the result of a motorcycle accident at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, on September 11, 2011, at the age of 46. Mike lived with his family in Edgerton, Missouri, until 1976, when they moved to the family farm 14 miles south of Norton, Kansas. He graduated from the Lenora High School with the class of 1983, and attended the Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kansas, for two years. On December 29, 1990, Mike and Stefanie Archer were united in marriage in Olathe, Kansas. They made their home in Desoto, Kansas, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Eudora, Kansas, before returning to the Norton area where he was employed at Norton Sheet Metal in the heating and air conditioning business. Mike was a member of the Free Tomorrow Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed hunting and riding around the farm checking cattle with his daughter but his greatest joys in life were spending time with his family and friends and riding his motorcycle. Survivors include: his wife, Stefanie, and their daughter, Sydney Rutherford, Norton; his father and step-mother, Ken and Reta Rutherford, Lenora, KS; one sister and her husband, Amy and Darin Schuckman, Hays, Kansas; his father-in-law, Lyle Archer, Norton; one brother-in-law, Roger Archer, Norton; one sister-in-law, Bert Archer, Salina, Kansas; nephews and nieces, Kelton, Jenna, Nathan, and Hannah Schuckman, Hays, Kansas; Cody Ulmer and Toren Carroll, Salina, Kansas; other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Jaclyn, one uncle, Gary Sanborn, and his mother-in-law, Sandy Archer. A memorial has been established in his memory for his daughter, Sydney Rutherford. Calling hours will be Friday, September 16 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Enfield Funeral Home, 215 W. Main, Norton, KS. A reception will be held at the home of Bud and Liz Posson at 12550 S. Boddy St. in Norton following the graveside service. .
