Obituary of Delores Atkinson

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DELORES ESTHER (ANKENMAN) BEATY-ATKINSON Delores was born, April 16, 1922 in Norton County, Kansas. She was the oldest of two children born to Guy and Eunice Ankenman. She attended country school in Norton County until the 8th grade, later graduating from high school in Wilsonville, Nebraska. Delores married Don Beaty on August 9, 1942 in Norton County. They were married 47 years and were blessed with 3 daughters. Don died in July, 1989. Delores taught in country schools for several years before and after her first marriage. She and Don then farmed for ten years in Norton County before moving to Colorado for four years. Returning to Norton in 1959, she later worked at the First Security Bank in Norton until her retirement. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Norton, worked with the Republican Party in Norton and owned and operated the Christian Book Store for several years before marrying George Atkinson on February 16, 1991. Delores lived in Norton until after George's death in 2009, and then moved to Garden City to be near her daughters. Delores was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Beaty, her parents, a brother, Dale Ankenman and sister-in-law, Norraine Ankenman, her second husband, George Atkinson and step-children, Janice Atkinson Towne and Edward Atkinson. She is survived by her three daughters, Donita Cawby (Chuck) of Garden City, Karla Scriven (Dee) of Colorado, Springs, CO, Barbara Watson (Anthony) of Sedalia, MO, 5 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-children Bill Atkinson and Martha Atkinson Lofgreen and the extended Atkinson families. FUNERAL SERVICE – Monday, March 28, 2016 –11:00 A.M.
