Obituary of Joseph C. Berry

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JOSEPH C. BERRY Joseph C. Berry, son of Newel H. "Happy" and Fern (Georgeson) Berry, was born July 24, 1930, in Norton County, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital on January 3, 2016, at the age of 85. Joe grew up in the Lenora area and attended the Lenora schools. On September 17, 1950, he married Geneva N. Beckman, in the Christian Church in Norton. They made their home in Norton before returning to the Lenora area where they farmed and were custom harvesters. Following their retirement, they moved into Norton. Geneva passed away December 27, 2010. Joe was a member of the Lenora United Parish Church, Norton Lion's Club, Masons, and Shriners. He had served on various boards and committees including the Lenora School Board and the Norton County Central Committee, and as chairman of the Kansas Wheat Commission and U.S. Wheat Association. Survivors include: one son and his wife, Steve and Joni Berry, Lenora; one daughter and her husband, Janet and David Oswalt, Lenexa, Kansas; six grandchildren, Amanda and Robert Gray, Kayla and Terry Mathis, Anna and James Berry, Nathan and Renee Oswalt; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Averie Gray; his special friend. Elsie Wolf, Norton; one brother-in-law and his wife, Calvin and Iva Beckman, Lenora; two sisters-in-law, Ann Berry, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Pat Berry, Hays, Kansas; other relatives and many friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Tim, and two brothers, Hardy and Delbert.
