Obituary of Lyman A. David
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
LYMAN A. DAVID
Lyman Alfred David, son of Benjamin Franklin and Jennie Oretha (Ingalsbe) David, was born August 18, 1924, north of Lenora, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, on July 12, 2015, at the age of 90.
Lyman grew up in the Lenora community, attended a one-room country school and three years at the Lenora High School. At the age of 17, he moved to Denver, Colorado, where he worked nights in a defense plant. He also finished high school in Wheatridge, Colorado, graduating in 1943. He returned to Lenora and married his high school sweetheart, Myrna Jamison, on December 30, 1944, in Norton, and to this union seven children were born. Lyman served overseas in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge, Lyman and Myrna settled on a farm south of Lenora and later bought the farm east of Lenora where they farmed and ranched together. Following their retirement from the farm, Lyman took up his hobby of buying, selling, and restoring antique pickups which he then sold in 35 states. His loving wife, Myrna, passed away, October 22, 2010.
Lyman was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church which later became the United Parish Church in Lenora. In 1962, the family was chosen Family of the Year from the Hays District of the United Methodist Church. Lyman served on the Lenora school board, Co-op Board, Federal Land Bank Board and was elected to the National Farmer's Organization as a Director.
Survivors include: six children, Jennie, and husband, Marion Goldsby, Norton, Kansas; Nancy and husband, Larry Conyac, Stockton, Kansas; John, and wife, Janet David, Lenora; Roger and wife, Charlotte David, Russell, Kansas; Richard David, Midland, Texas; Lisa Archer, Logan, Kansas; one brother, Eugene David; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Lyman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his oldest son, Jimmy Dean, one granddaughter, Holly Rene Conyac, two brothers, Howard and Frank, and two sisters, Rema and Blanche.

MILITARY HONORS – Harmonson-Redd American Legion Post #63 of Norton.
