The last long visit I had with my cousin was May 2010. June always had family stories to tell and she told them in quite a humorous manner. Though we only had one afternoon together, it was an enjoyable time to hear about family history that we knew nothing about. June visited us in Philadelphia one time after her retirement. She was a unique and very kind individual.

I met June in Lincoln NE and we became friends immediately. She was funny, warm, smart and fun to be around. I knew that whenever we would spend time together it was going to be a good day because she would make it that way. She was a dear friend that I will always carry in my heart. All my love to you my dear friend and I will see you in heaven because I KNOW that is where you are. You are and always will be mentioned in my prayers. I miss you. R.I.P my friend and all my love.

I met June as a child many years ago thru my sister who was a friend of her & I liked her immediately. She had an open kind heart that was immediately apparent. I always admired her ability to be practical & pragmatic but still be warm & open hearted. She opened my mind thru her books & seemingly endless wisdom. Some of my fondest memories as a child was visiting my sister in Lincoln NE & they almost always involved her being there. We would sit & play board games & laugh till my sides hurt. And what a laugh! open, hearty, & contagious. I can still see her smile & remember the twinkle that was in her eyes that made you feel happy & at ease. I know in my heart of hearts that she is at peace & happy with God. I can only hope that I turn out as good as she did. Love you June & I miss you. Rest in Peace my earth Angel. LOVE YOU!

Gene knew June since their growing up years, as Les and Elsie were good friends of Gene's folks, Kenneth and Arlene Best. Kris got to know June on her occasional visits to her folks in Lenora. After June retired and moved to Norton, Kris visited with June by phone or going up to Norton from Lenora. We had many great conversations about many different topics. June was so fun to be with and had a great sense of humor. Kris was looking forward to their next visit over Memorial Day week, but sadly it was not meant to be. Rest in peace, dear friend, June. You will be missed a lot!

Helen "June" Prout was a 1956 Lenora Rural High School Graduate and Classmate of mine. We spent many years in grade school as well. June would E-Mail me on occasion and let me know how things were going with her. My last letter was just last week. I knew she was having health issues, but I did not know the magnitude of the situation.
May You Rest In Peace, Dear Classmate!
