Obituary of Irene LeCount
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
B. IRENE LeCOUNT
Blanche Irene LeCount, daughter of Herbert Galen and Cleta (Deeter) Wertenberger, was born March 9, 1923, in Norcatur, Kansas, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on March 26, 2014, at the age of 91.
Irene grew up in the Norcatur area and attended the Norcatur schools graduating with the class of 1940. On November 14, 1942, she married Albert Leslie LeCount in Quinter, Kansas. They made their home in Norton County where they farmed and raised their family. They moved into Norton in 2001. Leslie passed away May 16, 2007.
Irene was a member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren where she had been a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Cozy Club. She enjoyed being a farmer's wife, cooking, being outdoors and gardening and even taking care of the farm cats. Her greatest love, however, was her family.
Survivors include: two sons and their wives, Gary and Sue LeCount, Surprise, AZ; Alvin and Myrna LeCount, Hays, Kansas; one daughter and her husband, Treva and Leon Atwell, Bennington, Kansas; one sister, Rosa Brown, of the Andbe Home in Norton; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Ronald LeCount, one daughter-in-law, Peggy LeCount, and two brothers, Rex and Dale Wertenberger.
A memorial has been established to the Irene LeCount Memorial Fund.
