Treva & Leon
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss & sorrow. Doesn't really matter if our loss is sudden or gradual, it still hurts. May the wonderful memories that you have of your Mm carry you through the days ahead. Thank you also Leon for bringing your Mom by last week. it has been nice seeing you all recently.

When I visited Leslie and Irene, I often stayed several days to a week. Over a period of twenty-five years of my adult life starting at age 17, for vacation and holiday visits, this was my experience with Blanche Irene Wertenberger LeCount.
Irene and I walked down the hill together and opened the gate to the fenced garden where we picked tomatoes, green beans, peppers, cucumbers and a few onions. We then caught a couple of chickens and butchered them, we dug potatoes from the potato hill, and we gathered the eggs. We took all our gatherings into the house to cook something up . . . we were getting ready . . . all the kids and their little ones were on their way to visit. Irene headed up all this cooking . . . all well planned and orchestrated. She had purchased ingredients already . . . I never remember running to the grocery store for last minute purchases. She planned our favorite dishes . . . for me, it was a lime jello with cottage cheese and pear salad. We had fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, several salads, corn and green beans and usually more than one dessert. While we were cooking, eating and cleaning up, we told stories, visited and laughed together. When everyone arrived, the laughter and the stories continued, and the little ones shared their new tricks over the years as they grew up. Irene shared more than once that all this meal preparation never felt like “work” to her . . . for her, it was “vacation”. This connection and memory with Blanche Irene Wertenberger LeCount continues to be an important part of who I am . . . to this day . . . even after all these years.
