Obituary of Phyllis Smart Dixon

IN LOVING MEMORY OF PHYLLIS S. DIXON Phyllis Smart Dixon, daughter of George and Margaret (Saunders) Martin, was born July 25, 1926, in Scotland, and passed away in Hays, Kansas, on February 3, 2012, at the age of 85. Phyllis grew up with her sisters, Margaret and Jessie, in Scotland living in the West Calder and Edinborough communities and attending the local schools. In Edinborough on May 17, 1945, she married Leland Leroy Dixon, whom she met during World War II. They moved to Norton, Kansas, where they raised their family. Her husband, Leland, passed away in 1993. Phyllis was attended the Norton Christian Church and enjoyed playing bingo and bowling. Her greatest joy was her family. Survivors include: four children, Allan, and wife, Becky Dixon, San Antonio, Texas; Kathryn, and husband, Craig Martlock, Modesto, California; Lela, and husband, Ralph Hackney, and Patricia, and husband, Barney Northern, all of Hays, Kansas; two sisters, Margaret and Jessie, Edinborough, Scotland; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, nieces, and nephews. A memorial has been established to the Phyllis Dixon Memorial Fund.
