Obituary of John Robert Tacha

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JOHN R. TACHA John Robert Tacha, son of Claude and Barbara (Wetter) Tacha, was born October 30, 1964, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away in Norton on September 29, 2011, at the age of 46. John grew up in Norton and attended the local schools graduating from the Norton Community High School with the class of 1983. He attended Ft. Hays State University on a football scholarship. On October 14, 1989, John and Kayla Higgins were united in marriage in Hays. They made their home in Norton where they raised their daughters, Lindsey Grace and Nicole Ann. John worked as a sales rep for F & A Food Sales. John was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Norton Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a past member of the Eisenhower Elementary Site Council and past chairman of the Northwest Kansas Golf Association. John loved most sports and was an All-State quarterback and played in the 1983 Kansas Shrine Bowl. If there was any kind of game, J.T. would play. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Reds fan and LOVED Oklahoma Sooner football. John enjoyed his family and friends very much, always had a smile on his face, and loved to laugh. Survivors include his two daughters, Lindsey Tacha, Hays; and Nicole Tacha, Battlefield, Missouri; three brothers, Pat and wife, Connie Tacha, Meriden, Kansas; Lynn and wife, Sandy Tacha and Jim and wife, Lori Tacha, all of Kearney, Nebraska; four sisters, Mary Jo and husband, Gale Montgomery, Norton; Sharon and husband, Vance Poage, Grainfield, Kansas; Anita and husband, John Covey, Wheat Ridge, Colorado; Marcia "W.J." Tacha, Hays; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many, many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and an infant sister, Gloria Lea. Memorials have been established to the John Tacha Memorial Fund for his daughter's education and the Norton County Hospital.
