Obituary of Vida Marye Fawcett Perrill
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
VIDA M. PERRILL
Vida Marye Perrill, daughter of Earl J. and Florence E. (Karnes) Trueblood, was born February 22, 1922, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and passed away at Heritage of Wauneta, in Wauneta, Nebraska, on April 11, 2011, at the age of 89.
Vida grew up in rural Sheridan County, Kansas, attending the Chicago school, and graduating from the Sheridan County High School in 1940. She married Jay O. Fawcett on July 21, 1943, in Hoxie, Kansas, and to this union three children were born. They traveled the world until settling down in Norton, Kansas, on January 1, 1947. Shortly thereafter, they bought a business that became Jay's Woodwork Shop. Vida was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for the business until about the time her youngest child entered junior high. During the next few decades she worked for the Norton Daily Telegram, Ideal Truck Lines, and Thiele Auction and Realty. Having married a sailor, her best job was "crew" on the small family sailboat. Vida lost her husband of 43 years to cancer on February 26, 1985. She continued to work and stay active in the community. She later met and married Lloyd J. Perrill on October 30, 1987. They traveled and enjoyed life until his death on December 7, 1991. Vida had recently moved to Wauneta, Nebraska, due to failing health.
Survivors include: two sons, Earl, and wife, Rhonda Fawcett, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado; Roy and wife, Elizabeth Fawcett, Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Janet Bailey, Kokomo, Indiana; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Trueblood, Norton; one step-brother, Laverne Mauck; three step-sisters, Bernadine Cobb, Bonnie, Czeranda, and Elaine Kramer; other relatives and friends.
Vida was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, and one brother, Clayton Trueblood, who was killed at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.
