Obituary of Elwood Thomson

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ELWOOD L. THOMSON Elwood LeRoy Thomson, son of James and Lucille (Jurey) Thomson, was born March 4, 1943, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, on February 4, 2011, at the age of 67. Elwood attended school at Clayton and Jennings. On April 2, 1969, he married Susan Quenzer in Norton, and to this union three children, Troy, Rachelle, and James, were born. They made their home in Norton where he drove a truck for Peak Transport in Phillipsburg, and later worked as a laborer for Burlington-Northern Railroad out of McCook, Nebraska. He retired from the railroad in early 2000. Survivors include: his wife, Susan, of their home in Norton; three children, Troy, and wife, Chriselle Thomson, Norton; Rachelle, and husband, Jason Glendening, Phillipsburg, Kansas; James, and wife, Kacy Thomson, Wray, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Brett, Alyssa, and Caren Thomson, Madalyn and Claudia Nelson, Jaxon Glendening, Jonathan, Christian, and Riley Thomson; one half-brother, Terry, and wife, Sharon Smothers, Norton; one half-sister, Melissa, and husband Jerry Chambers, Oberlin, Kansas; other relatives and friends. Elwood was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomson and Lucille Thomson Smothers and one grandson, Lucas Nelson. Memorials may be made to Elwood Thomson Memorial Fund.
