Obituary of Keith Murphy
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
T. KEITH MURPHY
Thomas Keith Murphy, son of Thomas Moore and Mayme Marie (Youngs) Murphy, was born September 6, 1931, in Wiggins, Colorado, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on January 3, 2011, at the age of 79.
Keith lived with his family in Colorado and California before moving to Selden, Kansas, where he attended school. He entered the U.S. Army January 11, 1942, and served until August 8, 1952, including serving in Korea for two years. On July 25, 1958, Keith and Marie Henry were united in marriage in Norton. They made their home in Norton except for one year when he was called to active duty and served at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Keith worked for Bell Telephone and Kansas/Nebraska Gas Company, and then served in the Kansas National Guard in Norton until is retirement in 1987.
Keith was a member of the Harmonson-Redd American Legion in Norton and the Norton Jaycees. He had coached the Jaycees BB Gun teams winning several state and national competitions. He loved horses enjoying other's horsemanship and also loved sports, pitching softball and catching for baseball.
Survivors include: his wife, Marie Murphy, of their home in Norton; two sons, Randy Murphy, Long Island, Kansas; and Rick Murphy, Norton; one daughter and her husband, Vicki and Warren Francis, Norton; one brother and his wife, Bill and Betty Murphy, Phillipsburg, Kansas; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jerry and Jim Murphy, and two sisters, Sandy Archer and Maxine Salzman.
