Obituary of Joe Lorimor

Joe (Gary Joseph) Lorimor, son of Cecil and Betty (Allen) Lorimor was born November 7, 1942 in Norton, Kansas and passed away at his home on January 28, 2021 at the age of 78. Joe grew up in Norton, attended Norton schools and then received his GED in May of 1980, which he was very proud of. When Joe was younger, he did roof jobs along with his dad and put-up metal buildings for Sharp Construction. In 1973, he found what he was meant to do and that was work for the Rock Island Railroad. He worked for several railroads over the next 32 years. Joe married Debrah Nickell in February of 1974 and they have been lifelong residents of Norton. In his spare time, he enjoyed racing motorcycles and stock cars and tinkering on old cars. He was an avid goose hunter and fisherman. Most of all, Joe loved watching his grandkids’ school activities and sports, he rarely missed an event. He was blessed with three wonderful children, Joe Lorimor, Jr. of Wichita, KS, Sherry Mack of Norton, KS, and Cynthia (Keith) Underhill of Hill City, Kansas; seven beautiful grandchildren: Jordon, Jessica, Ryan, Darrien, Alexis, Maggie, and Carter and two great grandchildren, Daxton and Theo Jane and another girl that is due in March. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Byrd; sisters-in-law, Diana Nickell and Debbie Lorimor; brother-in-law, Dennis Nickell and nephews, Darren Cart and Jason Sanderson. Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 pm Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home (formerly Enfield Funeral Home), 215 W. Main St., Norton, KS 67654.
