Obituary of Marian K McKinley

Marian K. McKinley, 91, of Norton, KS passed away December 29, 2020 at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas. She was born August 11, 1929 in Goodland, Kansas to Charles and Kathryn (Harper) Current. Marian grew up in Goodland and attended Goodland Elementary and High School. She married Leonard McKinley on June 3, 1946 in Goodland. They lived in Pratt, Kansas and Gillette, Wyoming until settling in Norton, Kansas. Marian attended and volunteered at the Norton Christian Church. She was well known in the community as the “Pie Lady” with many people enjoying her pies, cakes, sweet breads and anything else people wanted. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathryn; husband, Leonard; son, Rick McKinley; brother, James (Carolyn) Current; sisters, Carol (Lloyd) Simmons and Twila Saloga; granddaughter, Amy and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her children: Toni (Allan) Tyler of Wyandotte, OK, Teri (David) Minton-McElderry of Salina and Rona (Rocky) Mapes of Thornton, Colorado; brother, Charles E. (Anne) Current of Cortez, CO; brother-in-law, Darrel Saloga of Hoyt Lake, MN; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Marian requested no service; instead she wanted a short graveside ceremony with a Celebration of Life later at the Eagles Lodge when family can attend in better weather.
