Obituary of Dorothy M. Shearer

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DOROTHY M. SHEARER Dorothy Mae Shearer, daughter of William and Cleo (Hunter) Edgett, was born September 17, 1931, in Edmond, Kansas, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on July 13, 2020, at the age of 88. Dorothy grew up in the Edmond community and graduated from the Edmond High School with the class of 1950. On May 24, 1950, Dorothy married her loving husband, Dale L. Shearer, in Norton, and they made their home in rural Edmond. Dorothy worked at the Norton County Courthouse for 29½ years with many of those years as the Norton County Clerk. Her husband, Dale, passed away January 29, 2015. Dorothy continued to live in their home until her health no longer allowed her to do so and she moved into the Andbe Home in Norton. Dorothy was member of the Lenora Church of God for many years and then later the Norton Church of God. Dorothy and Dale enjoyed square dancing for many years, and she also enjoyed cooking, crocheting and plastic canvas needlework. Survivors include: one son, Kurtis, (Janine) Shearer, Norton; one daughter, Pamela Applebury, Wichita, Kansas; three grandchildren, Melyssa Reeves, Wichita; Austin Applebury, Derby, Kansas; Dale Shearer, Orlando, Florida; one great-grandson, Adrian Reeves; other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Arlynn, and one brother, Ivan Edgett.
