Dear Ruth and Family,
I am so sorry to hear about Jake's passing.
I have so many great memories of his teaching and coaching not only in school and in sports but also about life well-lived. I will remember his mentorship and his great smile and always (very) firm handshake. I remember before each match, he led the team prayer... not asking for victory or anything special ... but for help for all of us to "wrestle to the best of our ability".
He was a great friend to my parents, especially my Mom (Mary Bennett) - fellow teacher and volunteer.
I wish you comfort and strength in this difficult time.

Dear Ruth and family,
I was very sad to hear about Jake’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you and all of your family during this difficult time. I have so many memories and stories of Jake as a teacher and coach, as clear as if it were yesterday. He was as inspiration to many of us and had an outsized influence on me personally. I will always remember the ease with which he could break into that great smile of his. Such an amazing man that we will miss greatly. His memory will live on.

It is with great sorrow that I acknowledge the death of Jake Durham. Jake was a great man who dedicated his life to Norton and to Bluejay Athletics. He was there for me from the start of my tenure at Norton and worked with both of our State Championship teams in 1985 and 1986. He always had a positive word for the kids and for the coaches, especially me. He will be greatly missed.
