Obituary of Donald Sidney Jackson

DONALD S. JACKSON

 

Donald Sidney Jackson, beloved son of Granville and Maxine (Gustafson) Jackson, was born on July 23, 1948 in Long Beach, California, and peacefully passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton with his loving wife by his side, November 24, 2019, at the age of 71.

Don grew up in California and graduated from Artesia High School. He also attended Tech School and received his degree for Carpentry. Don lived several places in California before moving to Kansas in 1974. On August 13, 1977, Don married the love of his life, Kandis Delimont in Long Island, Kansas. They lived in Tescott, Kansas; Evans, Colorado, and Greeley, Colorado before making their home in Norton, Kansas. Don had his own business as a carpenter, but also worked as a maintenance man for Valley Hope and assisted Dale Carlson at the First United Methodist Church in Norton.

Don was a member of the Victory Christian Fellowship in Greeley, Colorado where he was a head usher. He enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, his carpentry work, adding to his collection of pepsi-cola products, playing wahoo, pitch, and pinochle, and looking at antique cars. Don had a big heart and loved to help others. His greatest love was spending time with his friends and family, especially when it involved the farm or lake.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Kandis of Norton; three children, James, and daughter-in-law, Sandra Jackson, Abilene, KS; Denah Young, and fiancé, Michael Jensen, Lincoln, KS; Jason, and wife, Melinda Jackson, Evergreen, CO; four brothers, David Jackson, Sparkman, AR; Thomas, and wife, Crystal Jackson, Kerrville, TX; Kelly, and wife, Barb Jackson; Livingston, TX; Stan, and wife, Liz Jackson, , AZ; one sister, Carolyn, and husband, Randy Willis, , FL; one brother-in-law, Jeffry, and wife, Melissa Delimont, Norton, KS; four sisters-in-law, Pamela, and husband, Rick Keenan, Norton, KS; Pennie, and husband, Terry Laughlin, Norton, KS; Shelli Stanley, Millersburg, OH; Abi Delimont, Norton, KS; 10 grandchildren, Abbagail, Sidney, R.C., Roxy, Amber, Penelope, and husband, Steven, Tiffany, Chase, Brooke, and Kevan; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; numerous other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Maynard and Irene Delimont; sister-in-law, Melba Jackson; brother-in-law, Ronald Delimont; two grandchildren, Logan and Krystle; one great-grandchild.

 

 

VISITATION – Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM

at Enfield Funeral Home in Norton.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE – Friday, December 6, 2019 – 10:30 A.M.

PLACE – First United Methodist Church – Norton, Kansas

INURNMENT – Long Island Cemetery – Long Island, Kansas
