Obituary of Christopher Scott Richard

IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHRISTOPHER RICHARD Christopher Scott Richard, loving son of Floyd and Kathryn "Kathy" (Colson) Richard, was born September 4, 1995, in Hays, Kansas, and passed away at his home in Norton, Kansas, on August 14, 2019, at the age of 23. Christopher grew up in Norton, where he attended the schools and graduated from the Norton Community High School with the class of 2014. Christopher attended Ft. Hays University where his interest was in mechanical engineering and then he studied graphic design at Goodland Vo-Tech. In 2012, he earned the title of Eagle Scout with his project of building handicap accessible picnic tables at the picnic shelters in Norton. Christopher was a member of the First Church of God in Norton, and a member of the Nebraska Sled Hockey team. He enjoyed playing his guitar and video games and shooting archery. He greatly treasured his time with his family shooting guns and hunting with his dad and riding the four-wheeler. Special times were spent playing games with his nieces and nephews and taking them for rides on his power chair. Christopher was a very caring person who always put others before himself. Survivors include: his parents, Floyd and Kathryn "Kathy" Richard, Norton; three sisters and their husbands, Jennifer and Eddie Emerson, Springfield, Missouri; Dianne and Jason Davis, Norton; Amie and Brock Scott, Norton; six nieces and seven nephews; other relatives and many friends. Christopher is rejoicing in heaven with his maternal grandparents, Leamon and Edna Colson, his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Jane Richard, one uncle, Charles "Chuck" Colson and five babies who were too beautiful for this earth. FUNERAL SERVICE – Thursday, August 22, 2019 – 2:30 p.m. PLACE – First Church of God – Norton, KS INURNMENT – Norton Cemetery – Norton, KS MEMORIALS – Christopher Richard Memorial Fund and Shriner's Hospital for Children in Chicago, IL VISITATION – Wednesday, August 21, 2019 – 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. At the Enfield Funeral Home – 215 W. Main – Norton, KS The family has requested that any gifts be directed to the memorial funds.
