I didn't know Jace very well, as I didn't have him in class when I was a teacher at NCHS. However, I had always heard others speak highly of him. Our condolences to his family and friends.

We're praying for you all as you endure this time of tragic loss. "We sorrow, but not as others who have not hope." PTL for the hope that was so evident in Jace Smothers!!
He was terrific with young people. But also related wonderfully with the not-so-young. Jo Ann and I (& the whole crowd) were thrilled one day with his tuba mini-concert for Andbe Home residents and volunteers.
He was ready for heaven, and by God's grace his ministry impact will continue to bear good fruit. Jesus said, "In the world you will have trouble. Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world." So has Jace, and so will we --- in Christ.

To Jace’s family and friends - We are so sorry for your loss. We had the privilege of hosting Jace at our house last fall one night with our son, Luke, and three of their buddies as they were headed to a Royals game the next day. We laughed a lot ... and even more because of Jace’s infectious laugh. :) We’re thankful for that opportunity to meet Jace. We’re thankful that he and Luke became such good friends. Our prayers are with you all!!

Jace, you will be missed by your family so much, as you were on your way to a great career in being an advocate for Christ in and out of the organized church. Your journey has been cut short but will be continued through those you have touched. As one of my many grand nephews, I never got to know you so well, but knew of your journey.

Terry & Sharon, I am so sorry for the loss of your son Jace. I attended one softball game this season at Joplin where I believe your son was the catcher. As a parent of a son who graduated from Ozark Christian College, with a grandson attending at this time who is a member of one of the CIY teams, plus I just traveled down and up (to me it seems that rather than across) that particular stretch of I-24 in the last two weeks and saw the roadwork, slow traffic, and all. I feel personally touched by your loss. Jace was an outstanding young man and will be deeply missed by many students, the college, friends, and others he has touched during his time on this earth. May God give you peace knowing that you both raised an outstanding young man and that you receive comfort knowing where he is at this time. May God bless you and your family is my prayer.
