Obituary of Isabel Carman Lesh

IN LOVING MEMORY OF

ISABEL CARMAN LESH

Isabel Carman Lesh, daughter of Thomas W. and Henrietta (Veeh) Wiltrout, was born December 5, 1929, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton, Kansas, on June 3, 2019, at the age of 89.

Carman grew up in Norton where she attended and graduated from Norton schools.  She also attended Colorado Women’s College for a year in Colorado Springs.  She celebrated her birthday on December 5, 1948, by marrying her high school sweetheart, Phillip A. Lesh at the Norton Christian Church.  They made their home in Norcatur and Hill City, before returning to Norton where they raised their family. She especially enjoyed her Mendo and bridge clubs for many years. Her husband, Phil, passed away December 1, 2014.  Carman remained in Norton until June 2018 when her health made a move necessary.

Carman was a member of the Norton Christian Church for 70 years where she was very active. She helped in the nursery during Sunday School hour, and later was president of the Women’s Council for several years.

Carman was a talented vocalist. She enjoyed singing in a women’s quartet, and church and community choirs, as well as the high school dance band. Phil and Carman sang duets on various occasions, and together they enjoyed traveling to area and national barbershop events. Carman was also proud of being an active Mayflower descendent.

Survivors include two daughters: Nancy (Mario) Hernandez, Hugoton; Lou Ann (Bryan) Biggs, Overland Park, Kansas; one son, Eric Lesh, Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren: John Sides, Leah Sides Race, Amy Biggs (Brian) Lueger, Jonathan Lesh, Stephanie Biggs (Rick) Cloues, Holly Lesh Ingalls, and Jennifer Biggs (Long) Nguyen; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
