Obituary of Linda S. Long
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
LINDA S. LONG
Linda Susan (O’Brien) Long passed away suddenly on Monday, May 27, 2019, in her home in rural Norton County, Kansas, at the age of 55.
Linda was born on September 6, 1963, in Friend, Nebraska, the second child of Linus and Pauline (Britten) O’Brien. She grew up on the family farm and attended the schools in Friend. She married Nick Roth in 1982, and from this marriage two daughters were born. They later divorced in 1986. She rocked being a single mom until she met Dave Long in 1992. Dave came alongside her to raise her girls and the two married June 3, 2000. After his death in September 2008, she was a bit lost but continued to be a great mother, grandmother and friend. She found a new adventure with Steve Callaway and his two sons, Tyson and Cody. Linda was a member of the New Age family where she worked in the shipping department for many years.
Linda was a member of the Eagles Club in Norton. She enjoyed sketching and drawing and had recently taken up painting. She had a love of motorcycles, drag racing, classic cars and having friends and family to her home but her greatest joys in life were her family, especially her grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Mitchell, of Garden City, Kansas; and Stacey (Tom) Stickney, of Raymond, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, Toby, Joshua, Katy, Claire, Kian, Tatum, and Sara Mitchell and Reece, Reagan, and Lincoln Stickney; brother, Patrick O’Brien of Bradshaw, Nebraska; in-laws, Dale (Kathy) Long, Holdrege, Nebraska; Rich Long, Kearney, Nebraska; Duane (Kathy) Long, Holbrook, Nebraska; Dennis (Jan) Long, Lincoln, Nebraska; Sandy Long, Holbrook, Nebraska; and Rosemary (Kevin) Johnson, Clive, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other family members and many beloved friends.
