Obituary of Anna M. Kingham
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
ANNA KINGHAM
Anna Kingham died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kans., after a fall which broke her leg. She had been a resident of the Andbe Home in Norton, Kans. since Feb. 1, 2017.
Anna was born to Adam and Augusta (Hoffmann) Sauer on March 27, 1927, at the family farm in Trego County, six miles southwest of Ellis. She attended school in Ellis until her junior and senior years, and then attended a Christian boarding school, Enterprise Academy, Enterprise, Kans., graduating in 1947. After graduation, Anna moved to Boulder, Colo. and worked at the Boulder Hospital until her marriage to John Kingham on July 30, 1948, at Benkelman, Nebr.
John taught Anna how to drive cars, trucks, tractors, and she worked alongside her husband on the farm while raising her six children, Ivan, Joyce, Norman, Janis, Doris, and Donna. Anna had to learn how to cook and she became an excellent cook. Collecting recipes became a favorite hobby. Anna kept busy raising her large family and when they left home, she learned how to embroider, crochet, knit, quilt, and made all of her children and grandchildren blankets and quilts. She always kept her fingers busy in the evening with all of her handiwork. Later on, she became interested in genealogy, joined the genealogy society in Norton, and became quite proficient in finding records of the family. Anna was a member of the Norton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Ivan (Joyce) Kingham, Norton, KS., Norman (Marjorie) Kingham, Almena, KS, her daughters, Joyce (Ray) Royal of Sedgwick, KS., Janis Kingham of Lincoln, NE., Doris (Darryl) Watts of Wellington, KS., and Donna (Steve) Tanner of Norton. Also surviving are her 12 grandchildren: Connie Vifquain, Ted Kingham, Floyd Collins, Ryan Royal, Robin Schellenberg, Ashley Kingham, Julie Dumonceaux, Greg Watts, Eric Watts, Jason Tanner, Chris Tanner, and Tim Tanner. She was blessed to have 23 great grandchildren.
