Obituary of Vickie D. Wendell
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
VICKIE D. WENDEL
Vickie Diane Wendel, daughter of Raymond Edward and Lorraine Elizabeth (Strickland) Gearhart, was born December 5, 1942, in Lenora, Kansas, and passed away at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska, at the age of 75.
Vickie grew up with her family in the Lenora community where she attended the Lenora schools. On October 1, 1961, Vickie married her sweetheart, Norman Wendel, in Lenora. They made their home in Lenora before moving to Dows, Iowa, where she operated a restaurant. They later returned to Kansas, to live in the Almena community. Vickie was the librarian at the Almena Library for many years.
Vickie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She had many interests including bowling, reading, crossword puzzles and refinishing furniture. Her greatest joy in life was her family and spending quality time with them.
Survivors include: her husband, Norman, of their home in Almena; two daughters, Kimberly Kay (Donny) Doughon, Algona, Iowa; Stacey Renee (Todd) Koch, Geneva, Iowa; one son, Sammy Lee (Molly) Wendel, Polk City, Iowa; one sister, Betty Masden; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Billy Masden.

PLACE – Enfield Funeral Home – 215 W. Main – Norton, KS
INURNMENT – Mt. Hope Cemetery – Almena, KS
VISITATION – Thursday, August 16, 2018 – 5:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Norton
