INGEBORG "INGE" G. BARTLEY

 

Ingeborg "Inge" G. Bartley, age 90, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Norton County Hospital. She was born on February 21, 1928 in Nuernberg, Germany to Johann Friedrich Graf and Franziska (Stauber) Graf.

Inge was the middle of three children. She enjoyed sports such as swimming and hiking. She played the violin and enjoyed singing with her family. She grew up during the years leading up to WWII and married Thomas Bartley in 1947, eventually moving to the United States in 1949. To this union five children were born. While Tom served in the US Army, they were stationed in Fort Riley, KS; Colorado Springs, CO; Fort Benning, GA; Fort Bragg, NC; Louisville, KY; and Gelnhausen, Germany. Upon Tom's discharge they settled in Almena, KS in 1956. Tom and Inge owned the grocery store for a number of years in Almena. Both Inge and Tom worked at Valley Hope Treatment Center in Norton, KS, until their respective retirements. They were dedicated to helping people overcome addiction and better their lives.

Inge was an active and devout Jehovah's Witness. She had strong faith, and enjoyed sharing it with others. She loved her family very much, and enjoyed traveling to visit them whenever possible. She made numerous trips back to her native Germany with her brother and his wife. She had many friends there as well. She was an amazing woman, known for her sweet disposition and friendly nature. She always took a warm interest in others and had touched many lives.

Survivors include her children, Thomas Bartley Jr., Asheboro, NC; Franziska Post, Almena, KS; Rita, and husband, Phillip Lowry of Hutchinson, KS; Terry Bartley, and his companion, Joanne Bentti, Negaunee, MI; Angela, and husband, Stephen Williams, Bradenton, FL; one brother, Andreas, and wife, Inga Graf, Derwood, MD; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several other relatives and friends.

Inge was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents; one sister, Rosa Schickhofer; one daughter-in-law, Alice Bartley; two grandsons, Kirby and Clayton Lowry.

 

 

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 10:30 A.M at the Enfield Funeral Home in Norton, Kansas. A memorial has been established to the Inge Bartley Memorial Fund.
