Obituary of George R. Clark
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
GEORGE R. CLARK
George Raymond Clark, son of Thomas Lee Gilbert and Laura May (Duncan) Clark, was born February 7, 1925, in Alton, Missouri, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, on October 31, 2010, at the age of 85.
George attended rural grade school and served in the military during World War II. On May 14, 1947, he married Violet Marie Robinson in Lebanon, Kansas. They made their home in Beloit, Kansas, for two years before moving to Norton in 1949. George owned and operated a service station in Norton for many years and also was maintenance engineer for the Northern Valley school system in Almena.
George was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norton.
Survivors include: his wife, Violet, of their home in Norton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Thieler, Boulder, Colorado; one son and his wife, Elza and Lisa Clark, Valley Falls, Kansas; one granddaughter, Jenna Thieler-Johnson, and husband, Jeffrey Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Violete Thieler-Johnson; five sisters, Hazel Grooms, Alton, Kansas; Ethel Hummel, St. Louis, Missouri; Ann Busby, Mary Eddy, and Wanda Kay Clark; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, William, John, and Ongle Clark, two half-brothers, Jessie and Gilbert Clark, and one half-sister, Norma Louise Rudsill.
A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church in Norton.
