Obituary of Darrel E Barnett
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
DARREL E. BARNETT
Darrel E. Barnett, beloved son of Lester and Ivalea (Ritter) Barnett, was born on January 2, 1948 in Norton, Kansas and peacefully passed away at the Norton County Hospital on March 30, 2018, at the age of 70.
Darrel grew up in the Norcatur community and graduated from Norcatur High School. He went on to attend college at Fort Hays State University and received his Bachelor's Degree. On June 5, 1967, Darrel married the love of his life, Alice Britton. They made their home in Clayton, Kansas, where he worked as a dispatcher for the Highway Patrol. He also farmed and drove the local school bus.
Darrel was a charter member of the American Legion Riders and a member of the Farm Bureau, receiving the Century Farm award. He was involved in 4-H and was also a church trustee. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Alice, of their home in Clayton; one son, Darren, and wife, Julie Barnett, Haysville, KS; one daughter, Marylyn Barnett, Kearney, NE; one sister, Kay, and husband, Bob Strevey, Norcatur, KS; one sister-in-law, Retta Hare, Norcatur, KS; three grandchildren, Alex Barnett, Anson Perry, and Rose Montoya; several other relatives and friends.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Hare.
FUNERAL SERVICES – Tuesday, April 3, 2018 – 2:00 P.M.
PLACE – United Methodist Church – Norcatur, KS
VISITATION – Monday, April 2, 2018 from 5:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M.
at the Enfield Funeral Home in Norton, KS
INTERMENT – Norcatur Cemetery – Norcatur, KS
