Obituary of David R. Sheley

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAVID R. SHELEY David Ray Sheley, son of Ray and Mina (Ballinger) Sheley, was born November 25, 1927, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, on December 21, 2017, at the age of 90. David grew up in the Norton community and graduated from the Norton High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On October 6, 1951, David and Wanda Palmer were united in marriage in Longmont, Colorado. They made their home in rural Norton County where they farmed and raised their family. Following their retirement, they moved into Norton. His loving wife, Wanda, passed away March 24, 2016. David was a member of the Harmsonson-Redd American Legion Post #63. He loved his family and his farming life, and also enjoyed a good card game. Survivors include: his son, Ivan Sheley, and his daughter, Lora, and her husband, Jerry Darling, all of Norton; one sister, Donna Lee Olson, Eugene, Oregon; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his grandson, David Sheley, his brother, Jack Sheley, and his brother-in-law, Gordon Olson. Sheley Memorial Fund FRIENDS MAY CALL – at the Enfield Funeral Home in Norton on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 – 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
