Obituary of Doris Brooks

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DORIS E. BROOKS Doris E. Brooks, daughter of Edward H. and Luella (Lusk) Webber, was born April 6, 1922, in Alma, Nebraska, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on August 20, 2017, at the age of 95. Doris grew up in Alma and graduated from Alma High School in 1939. She worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. for three years. On June 23, 1944, she married Jack P. Brooks in Norton. They first lived in Herington, Kansas, while Jack was in the service and following his discharge, they returned to Norton to raise their family. Jack passed away September 28, 1965. Doris worked at the Norton County Hospital as office manager until her retirement. Doris was baptized at the age of 18 in Alma and after her marriage, she transferred her membership to the Norton Christian Church. She was a charter member of the Mid-Century Study Club and belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and her embroidery talents were extraordinary. Doris felt much love by her parents, husband, daughters, granddaughter, and brothers, who were her greatest joys in life. Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Christine Kent, Arvada, Colorado; and Barbara Jane Brooks, Westminster, Colorado; one granddaughter, Renee Lisa Kent, Commerce City, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Roland, Clinton, and Raymond Webber.
