Obituary of Leona Mildred Kaspar

LEONA M. (ALLEN) KASPAR
Leona Mildred (Allen) Kaspar, 102, LaCrosse, formerly of Jennings and Hays, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Locust Grove Village in Lacrosse, Kansas.
Leona was born April 17, 1915, on a farm near Lenora, Kansas, to Edward A. and Virginia (Williams) Allen. She attended school in Norton County, Kansas, and Morgan County, Colorado.
Leona married Joseph "Joe" Kaspar, Jr., on June 30, 1934, in Norton. They lived on the family farm northwest of Jennings, where Joe was born. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1991. Leona continued to live on the farm until 1994, when she sold it and moved to Hays to be closer to her daughters.
Leona was a past member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge 1864, the Rebekah Lodge 430, the Western Fraternal 153, Modern Woodmen of America, and the Willing Workers Quilting Club. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jennings, and served on the Methodist women's group as the food committee chairman for 13 years until she moved. Leona loved gardening, her flower garden, playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include: her children, Carol Cook, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Norma Hahn (Louis,) Craig, Colorado; Allan Kaspar (June,) Nixa, Missouri; Arlis Koerner (Jim,) Hays, Kansas; and Joleene Younger (Frank,) Victoria, Kansas; one son-in-law, Bob Hepner, Prescott, Arizona; one sister, Leora VandeKamp, Marshalltown, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Lois Hepner, one grandchild, Kevin Hahn, two brothers, LeRoy and Kenneth, three sisters, Beulah Finders, Gladys Steelsmith, and Eloise Nelson, four brothers-in-law, Bert Finders, Glenn Steelsmith, Anton Nelson, and Ted VandeKamp, two sisters-in-law, Hazel Allen and Celia Allen.
