Obituary of Georgia O'Neill

IN LOVING MEMORY OF GEORGIA E. O'NEILL Georgia Elaine O'Neill, daughter of Charles and Helen (Foskett) O'Neill, was born November 9, 1938 in Harlan County, Nebraska, and peacefully passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, on June 5, 2017, at the age 78. Georgia graduated from the Alma schools in Alma, Nebraska in 1957. In February 1958, Robert Rhoades and Georgia were united in marriage in Alma, Nebraska and divorced in July of 1973. On July 10, 1981, Robert Merklein and Georgia were united in marriage in Stuttgart, Kansas, and later divorced in September of 2000. Georgia worked as an accountant for numerous banks. Georgia lived in various places throughout her life and returned to Kansas to be close to her family. Georgia served on the Election Board in Norton for several years. She enjoyed cooking, doing crafts, coloring and doing embroidery work. Her greatest love was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Survivors include: two children, Douglas Rhoades, Chicago, IL; Debra Bowen, Norton, KS; one brother, Dr. Tim O'Neill, Fayetteville, AR; two grandchildren, Jason Bowen and Elizabeth Hickman; five great-grandchildren, Katie Gleason, Devon Bowen, Kayne Henderson, Patrick Bowen and Elliana Hickman; several other relatives and friends. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; one uncle, Donald O'Neill; twin brother, George O'Neill. MEMORIAL SERVICE – Saturday, June 10, 2017 – 11:00 A.M. PLACE – Enfield Funeral Home – Norton, Kansas INURNMENT – Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
