Obituary of Duane E. Wray

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DUANE E. WRAY Duane E. Wray, son of Emereth and Edna (Robinson) Wray, was born October 8, 1929, on the family farm in Norton County, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton on March 5, 2017, at the age of 87. Duane was raised on the farm and attended rural schools until the sixth grade. He then attended and graduated from the Norton Community High School. On November 27, 1949, Duane and June Sides were united in marriage. They made their home on his grandfather's farm where they farmed and raised their family. Duane was a member of the Norton Christian Church where he served in many ways including Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Elder for many years. He was also a member of the Norton Lion's Club and had been active with the county 4-H program for many years. Duane loved farming and greatly enjoyed creating many woodworking projects. Survivors include: his loving wife, June Wray, of their home in rural Norton; three children, Nancy (Mike) Nichols, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; David (Carol) Wray, and Connie (Scott) Mickey, all of Littleton, Colorado; one brother, Jerald Wray, Champaign, Illinois; five grandsons, Christopher (Alison) Nichols, Justin Nichols, Creigan (Amanda) Wray, Denyson (Ashley) Wray, and Cole Mickey; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Carly, Leah, and Nathan Nichols, and expected great-granddaughter Wray; other relatives and many friends. Duane was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Beth.
