Obituary of Rebecca Madden
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
REBECCA DIANE "BECKY" MADDEN
Becky Madden, 68, of Almena, passed away peacefully at home in Almena on August 26, 2016. She was born on November 6, 1947 in Norton, Kansas to Lewis and Dorothy (Greene) Beach.
Becky was raised in Norton where she attended school and graduated in 1965 from Norton Community High School. After high school she began working full time for Ideal Truck Lines, where she had worked part-time during high school. She worked for Ideal for 15 years and then began raising sheep on a small farm with her husband Louie Anderson. Becky and Louis A. Anderson were united in marriage on September 14, 1968 in Almena.
Becky was a self-taught photographer, and opened a photography business in 1982, Becky's Portraits. She was quite active in the Almena community. Over the years she was the first editor of the Prairie Dog Press of Almena and chaired the Almena Centennial celebration and worked tirelessly on all aspects of this event as well as many other community endeavors.
She married William Spencer Madden at the Congregational Church in Almena on May 12, 1990. Becky and Spencer were co-owners of Madden Trucking which she sold in 2007. Spencer passed away in 1999.
Becky was an active woman who loved her friends, family and community. She enjoyed the rural Kansas life. She raised quarter horses and with Louie grew a large garden with big crops of fruits and vegetables. She loved to fish and sometimes outfished Louie.
Survivors include: her life partner, Louie Anderson, Almena; step-son, Scott Anderson, Selden; sister, Sherry Beach McGee and husband, Mike, Spring, Texas; niece, Amy McGee, Houston, Texas; nephew, Sam McGee, and wife, Kristen, Lakeway, Texas and their children; great niece and nephew, Izzy and Samuel McGee; uncle, Jack Greene, Wichita, Kansas; several cousins and many friends.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE AND INTERMENT – Wednesday, August 31, 2016 –10:30 A.M.
PLACE – Mt. Hope Cemetery – Almena, Kansas
VISITATION – Wednesday, August 31, 2016 @ 9:00 AM
