Obituary of William M. Matchett

IN LOVING MEMORY OF WILLIAM (BILL) MARVIN MATCHETT William (Bill) Marvin Matchett, son of Jess and Mildred (Miller) Matchett, was born on February 10, 1927, in Grant, Nebraska, and peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Andbe Home in Norton on July 10, 2016, at the age of 89. Bill grew up in Grant, Nebraska and attended the Grant schools. Bill served in the U.S Navy from 1944-1946. On October 3, 1952, Bill and Bertha Booker were united in marriage in Norton, Kansas. Bill and Bertha lived in Phoenix, Arizona before making their home in Oberlin. Bill was a member of the Norton Christian Church. He loved hunting, camping, collecting belt buckles and was an avid fan of John Wayne and The KC Royals, but his greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include: his children, Eugene Matchett; Jess Matchett; Marvin, and wife, Millie Matchett; Debbie Reed, and husband, Bennie Cherry; Bill, and wife Mikki Lane; one brother, Frank Matchett; two sisters, Leota Brown; Marilyn Glover; granddaughter, Jamie, and husband, Odis Briggs; several grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertha; infant son, Anton; daughters, Nora and Sheri. FUNERAL SERVICE – Wednesday, July 13, 2016 –10:30 A.M PLACE – Norton Christian Church – Norton, Kansas MEMORIALS – William Matchett Memorial Fund INTERMENT – Oberlin Cemetery – Oberlin, Kansas FRIENDS MAY CALL – at the Enfield Funeral Home in Norton on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 –5:00 – 8:00 PM
