Obituary of Richard W. Meyers

IN LOVING MEMORY OF RICHARD W. MEYERS Richard Wayne Meyers, son of Harry Arnold and Ruth Gladys (Applegate) Meyers, was born April 23, 1947, in McCook, Nebraska, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, on May 4, 2016, at the age of 69. Richard grew up in Decatur and Norton counties, attending rural grade school in the Norcatur area and graduating from the Norton Community High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree from McPherson College. On June 7, 1964, Richard and Janet Whitney were united in marriage at the Norton Christian Church. They made their home in Kansas, Iowa, Denver, Colorado area, and Wyoming before returning to Norton. Richard was an insurance agent, entrepreneur, and mentor. Richard was involved in many different organizations with charitable attributes including the Jaycees, Shriners, Boys and Girls Club, and T. Gregory Jones Memorial Moped Race. Survivors include: his wife, Janet Meyers, Norton; two sons, Travis Meyers, (Casey) and Troy Meyers, (Lindi) all of Norton; one daughter, Tracy (Clint) Mathews, Gillette, Wyoming; one brother, Jerry (Sylvia) Meyers, Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Joan (Anthony) Knoll, Norton; Shirley (Sherman) Blocher, Lincoln, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Zoey Meyers, Kira Robertson and Riley Meyers, Kenan Meyers, Landon Jarman, and Cooper Mathews; other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol Putz.
