I just got word of the passing of Candace and I want to extend my deepest sympathies to family, friends and colleagues. I know that Candace worked tirelessly with and for the Norton Teacher's Association and Eisenhower Elementary School and will be deeply missed. On behalf of Kansas NEA, I extend our condolences. Kerry, Kathi, KC, Christine,Chandler,Dick, Julie & Brandon, I am so very, very sorry to hear about Candy! How I remember all the good times when you lived across from us on Garfield. Those days were so much fun. From having huge water fights to playing ball in the front yard until dark! I remember when I came home from surgery and Erica & Adam were both gone and Candy came over and kept me company just to make sure I was okay. That was just Candy, what a very caring sweet girl you all raised! My heart aches for all of you at this very sad time. She will be missed by so many and she touched so many lives! I feel very blessed that she was a part of our lives. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. She will be a very special angel in Heaven! Love to all of you, Sherry

Dear Kerry, Kathi, Julie, Dick and family,
We were SO sorry to hear of Candy's passing. There are just no words to express or give comfort to you at this most difficult time. Just know that many are sending good thoughts and prayers your way to help in the only way we can.
I will always remember Candy's smile and positive attitude as she danced into her piano lesson each week. We had so much fun together, it was hard to imagine we were really student and teacher. She will be in my heart always as I will treasure all the moments we shared.

As a new teacher at the high school, I didn't know Candace. However, as a member of the USD 211 staff, I wanted to pass along my condolences to her family, friends, current/former students, and fellow educators at Eisenhower. So very sorry for your loss.

I taught with Candace but before that She was a teacher to both my boys. She loved them and was so good to them. Mrs. Gay even spent some of her summer time tutoring one of my sons. She worked on the skills he needed but appealed to him by letting him read Sports illust and write about things he had interest in. We were thrilled when she got do her student teaching time in the classroom with the 4th graders. We were even more thrilled when she was the new Tech teacher for 5/6. My boys loved her. She was kind, low key, fun lessons, controlled the drama, let kids be comforable in their own skin, and encouraged them in their own uniqueness.
The boys are in the other bldgs now,but anytime they visited Eisenhower they always had to go to Mrs. Gays room to visit and give hugs. We all have special memories that we will forever keep with us. Our heads don't understand why she is gone, and our hearts are hurting. We will miss her so much. She made a lot of difference in her short time. We were and we always be #TeamMrsGay

From the time Candace joined the staff at Eisenhower I knew she had a heart of gold. We found that we not only shared a love of teaching, but were also birthday buddies. I just recently visited with Candace, and we were discussing the fact that she has my grandson in her class. Last year when my Granddaughter had her, we always heard how much she like "Mrs Gay!" I am so sorry that she won't be there to shape the next generation of students. She will be greatly missed.

I am so incredibly sorry for your families loss! Candy was a wonderful individual whom cared so much about others! It had been quite sometime since I have seen her but honestly I enjoyed every encounter we ever had! High school without her would have been dull we had many laughs in our typing and computer classes together I am thankful for those memories! I offer you my condolences and will be praying for all of you during these difficult days, months and years ahead. Please take care of yourselves as best as you can I am sure she would want that.
