Obituary of Donald Peterson

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DONALD F. PETERSON Donald F. Peterson, son of Leroy and Helen (Ward) Peterson, was born September 28, 1957 in Norton, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital on March 13, 2016, at the age of 58. Don grew up in the Norton community attended the Norton Schools. On April 8, 1978, Don and Karen Hillman were united in marriage at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton. Don and Karen lived in Wichita, Kansas; Jennings, Kansas, and Selden, Kansas, before making their home in Norton. Don earned his Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from Fort Hays State University in 1997. After his graduation Don started his own accounting business in Norton. As a business owner he was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Fraternal Order Eagles. Don enjoyed visiting with friends and family and playing cards. He was very proud of his 15-year sobriety and an active participant in AA meetings and activities. He had a passion for working with fellow AA members and spending time with his family. Survivors include; his loving wife, Karen Peterson, of their home in Norton; two sons, Joshua, and wife, Jolene Peterson, Wamego, Kansas; Zach, and wife, Lindsey Peterson, Lawrence, Kansas; one daughter, Kayla, and husband, Philip Aitken, Yuma, Arizona; five brothers, Ken, and wife, Kay Peterson; Mike, and wife, Carol Peterson; Larry, and wife, Jeannie Peterson; Maurice, and wife, Jennifer Peterson; Charlie Peterson; four sisters, Alice, and husband, Don Goscha; Pat, and husband, Max Becker; Nancy, and husband, Kennis McCelland; Teresa, and husband, Ron Albers; one brother-in-law, Glenn, and wife, Gwen Hillman; one sister-in-law, Anna Hillman; 9 grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe Peterson; father-in-law, Chester "Bud" Hillman; mother-in-law, Eloise Hillman; brother-in-law, Randy Hillman.
