Obituary of LeRoy Newell

IN LOVING MEMORY OF LEROY A. NEWELL LeRoy Adrian Newell was born April 6, 1932, in Zurich, Kansas, to Emile and Alfreda (Mongeau) Newell. He passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, on March 7, 2016, at the age of 83. LeRoy graduated from Palco High School with the class of 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley McCauley, on June 16, 1953. They made their home in Palco, Hill City, and Norton. In 1982, the family moved to Golden, Colorado, where he was a Quality Control Inspector at CCW Plastic Company in Arvada, Colorado. He retired from that position in 1991, due to ill health. In 2006, LeRoy and Shirley returned to Norton to make their home. Survivors include: his wife, Shirley, of their home in Norton; one son, David (Patty) Newell, Norton; two daughters, Sharon (Barry) Cochran, Golden; and Lisa Newell, Loveland, Colorado; four grandsons, Toby Cochran, Michael Newell, Cody and Cameron Dettmann; two granddaughters, Lori Cochran and Whitney (Dakota) Criqui; three great-grandchildren, Hadlee and Bennett Criqui and Noah Dettmann; one brother, Nelson Newell, Salina, Kansas; three sisters, Harriet Meyers, Holdrege, Nebraska; Lavina (Paul) Mispagel, Olathe, Kansas; and Janet Gross, Salina; a special brother-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Hollingsworth, Cheyenne, Wyoming; and a host of cousins and friends. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Duane and Kenneth Newell, one sister, Annette Hollingsworth, two brothers-in-law, Harold Meyers and Dean Gross, and two sisters-in-law, Robin and Ann Newell.
