I ALWAYS like your Dad...he was always nice to me and I enjoyed visiting with him on Saturday's over a bowl of his homemade ham and beans! A very fond memory for me! Hi, Big Brother, this is Lynda.
I am so very, very sorry I can’t be there to your final farewell. I am deeply regretful, but I know you would understand about the granddaughter’s wedding on Saturday.
I have wonderful memories of you. The past 4 years with our phone calls and chats meant so much to me. I will miss them terribly.
As a little girl, one memory I have was one 4th of July when you men shot off firecrackers in the back yard of the old home place. It may not have happened very many times, but I do remember one time when you guys shot a can in the air with a firecracker under it and it went flying up in the air!! Of course, we kids had to stand back. It was exciting.
Other memories I have was when you would bring the family “home” for the weekend and we would get to take Jim, Melaine and Marilyn to the movie. (I think Lynn was too little to go). Erma & I loved that! They were so cute and we loved playing like they were ours. Many times, we had more than just your kids with us. What a troop of kids we had to play with. Loved every minute of it.
The last memory I have was last September when we were home for Lucy & Ron’s anniversary celebration. How funny you were. We laughed and laughed and I will cherish those memories forever.
I miss you and love you. I am so very proud of you for finding the Lord before you were called home. Thank you for that. I will meet you at the Gate someday. Tell Mom and Daddy and the loved ones who have gone before us “Hello” for me.
Your baby sis,
Lynda

Uncle Mel and family
Best memories of my Uncle Melvin is his hearty laugh. He loved to sit and visit. My folks always had a good time doing this with Uncle Mel. Sitting on the porch of grandma and grandpa's house was the best.
Our family wants to extend our heartfelt sympathies to his entire family. It is hard to see someone go, but know that you have the memories and that this will get you past such a hard time. You are in our prayers!
Love,
Rolen, Angie, Kay and Bonny Highland

Ahh… Uncle Melvin- Although we did not get to see each other often I have some fond memories of our visits. One memory that always makes me smile is when I was about 8 we were visiting and I got to sleep in the basement. When I got up the next morning I remember telling my Mom and Dad about a dream I had……I dreamed there was a HUGE Coffee pot in the basement that was perking all night long… Well they got a good laugh and said “oh that wasn’t a coffee pot, that was Uncle Melvin snoring!” You will be missed but the memories will see us l through the tough times. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Give everyone a hug and tell Mom how much I miss her.

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Uncle Melvin. I remember as a kid we would visit Grandma and Grandpa. Us kids would be running around in the yard and all the guys (or dads) would either be on the porch or gathered around a tub of beer in the garage. I also remember the times we would visit Mel and Betty in Norton. We will miss him. Our sympathy goes out to the entire family. I am sorry we are unable to be there for his funeral, but you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I am very appreciative of the dress he sent to me after the funeral of Betty. The dress was a one size fit all I guess because it was held together with safety pins. You could take it in or let it out by way of the pins. I really enjoyed it even though I never actually wore it.
All kidding aside, I am truly sorry for your loss and will miss Melvin. My sympathy to the family. Sorry I am not able to be there with you.

I deeply regret the passing of Uncle Melvin, I didn't get to spend a lot of time with him but I do remember the times I was around him. He was always a very happy person and loved his parents as well as his sisters and brothers. He always lit up when remanissing about there childhood. I specificly remember he used to like to tease my mom about things from there childhood. My mom always spoke well of Uncle Melvin and she deeply adored him. Uncle Melvin you will truely be missed.
