Obituary of Orville W. Holterman

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ORVILLE W. HOLTERMAN Orville William Holterman, son of Everett and Jennie C. (Schemper) Holterman, was born August 28, 1919, in Phillips County, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, on December 14, 2015, at the age of 96. Orville grew up in the Long Island community and attended the local school. On March 21, 1942, Orville and Pauline Meta Dietz were united in marriage in Orleans, Nebraska. Following their marriage, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After his discharge, they made their home in rural Long Island, Kansas, where they farmed and raised their family. In later years, they moved to the Andbe Home in Norton due to their health. Pauline recently passed away on June 24, 2015. Orville was a member of the Long Island United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He was a farmer/rancher and an avid horseman having some of the first quarter horses in the area. Orville loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: two sons and their wives, James and Debbie Holterman, Omaha, Nebraska; Dale and Karen Holterman, Scott City, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and two more on the way; other relatives and friends. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Daniel Everett, one brother, Merlin, and two sisters, Avis Yantiss and Evelyn Grove.
