Obituary of Doris Mae Mizell
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
DORIS M. MIZELL
Doris Mae Mizell, daughter of Robert Edmund "R.E." and Lillian Gertrude (Sager) Adams, was born April 5, 1920, in Edmond, Kansas, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on September 27, 2015, at the age of 95.
Doris grew up in the Edmond community and attended the Edmond schools. On October 4, 1939, she married Lysle Harvey Mizell in Edmond. They lived in Clayton until 1940, when they moved to Waukesha, Wisconsin. In 1943, they returned to Clayton and made their home on the farm. In 1978, they moved into Clayton, and later moved to Norton in 1996. Lysle passed away June 3, 1998.
Doris was a member of the Clayton United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and played the organ. She also held district offices of the UMW. She was a member of the Clayton LD Club, served as a 4-H leader for many years, and also taught piano and organ lessons. Doris was an avid quilter and made many quilts and comforters over the years. She had a great love of family spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed researching the family genealogy.
Survivors include: six children, Roberta (Dennis) McAllister, Clayton; Carolyn Linsenmeyer, Beatrice, Nebraska; Robert (Diane) Mizell, Nickerson, Kansas; Lester Mizell, Norton; Ray (Ruth) Mizell, Norton; and Patricia (Jerry) Foster, Jennings, Kansas; one sister, Arlene Foss, Edmond; one sister-in-law, Ivalee Munsinger, Hays, Kansas; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Connie Lillich, and one granddaughter, Annette Jensby, and one son-in-law, Roger Linsenmeyer.
