Gerald Coffman

Obituary of Gerald Norman Coffman

IN LOVING MEMORY OF GERALD COFFMAN Gerald Norman Coffman, son of Steven and Beverly (Schofield) Coffman, was born November 12, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, and passed away at his home in Lenora surrounded by his loving family, on June 12, 2015, at the age of 75. Gerald grew up in West Minister, Colorado, and attended the WestMinister schools and went on to PipeFitter Local 208 Trade School. On April 3, 1961, Gerald and Karen Cowell were united in marriage in Denver, Colorado. While living in Colorado, Gerald helped work on the Alaska Pipe Line. He received a 50 year certificate from the PipeFitters Union for all of his dedicated hard work. Gerald and Karen moved several times before making their home in Lenora, Kansas, in 1987. Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend, but most of all he was a fighter. He had the will to live and love his family and friends more than anybody could ever know. He was a strong man and beat all the odds especially when they were stacked against him. He always had a smile on his face that was quite contagious. Never once did you hear him complain, unless it was about politics, but right up to the end all he wanted was to make sure his family was taken care of and with that knowledge he could go in peace. He was a man who would put other's needs ahead of his own, regardless if you had known him forever of if you had just met him. Gerald always had plenty of advice to give and you always knew you were in for a good lecture when he would point with his index finger. He loved to tell stories about the good ol' days and no matter how many times you heard them, you couldn't help but pull up a seat and listen to every word. Survivors include: his loving wife, Karen Coffman, of their home in Lenora; one son and his wife, Jerry and Mindy Coffman; two daughters and their husbands, Julie and Chris Scheetz, New Almelo, Kansas; Sherri and Jay Hachmeister, Lenora, Kansas; one sister, Joyce Daniels, Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren, Gary, and wife, Laura Coffman, Justin, Paige, and O'Neil Coffman, Kayla, and husband Bill Broeckelman; three great-grandchildren, Niya, Brantley, and Abel Coffman; many other relatives and friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Collins.
