Obituary of Chester L. "Bud" Hillman

IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHESTER L. “BUD” HILLMAN Chester Lowell “Bud” Hillman, son of Alva B. and Cora (Delp) Hillman, was born November 3, 1915, in rural Mitchell County, Kansas, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on June 9, 2015, at the age of 99. Bud grew up in Mitchell County and graduated from the Asherville High School. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On September 20, 1951, Bud and Vivian Eloise Siegrist were united in marriage in Glasco, Kansas. They made their home north of Asherville, Simpson, and Page City, Kansas, before moving to Norton in 1967. Bud was the manager of the Garvey Grain Elevator for many years. His wife, Eloise, passed away October 10, 1995. Bud was a member of the Harmonson-Redd American Legion Post #63 in Norton. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop and gardening. Survivors include: one son and his wife, Glen and Gwen Hillman, Parker, Colorado; one daughter and her husband, Karen and Don Peterson, Norton; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Randy, one brother, Cecil Hillman, and one sister, Esther Critchfield. Main – Norton, KS INTERMENT – Norton Cemetery – Norton, KS MEMORIALS – Andbe Home and the Bud Hillman Memorial Fund VISITATION – Sunday, June 14, 2015—4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Norton.
