Obituary of Richard Hahn
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
RICHARD H. HAHN
Richard Harold Hahn, son of R. Harold Hahn and Glenda D. (Collins) Hahn, was born July 29, 1941, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton on April 22, 2015, at the age of 73.
Richard grew up in Norton County. He attended the South Rockton Country School for seven years. He then attended the Walnut Ridge School for his 8th grade year, and from then on attended the Norton Community High School. Right out of high school, Richard went to basic training for the National Guard in Fort Leonardwood, Mo. He served for one year after basic training at Fort Riley and was activated during the Berlin Crisis. On February 5, 1961, Richard and Kay Lene Whitney were united in marriage in Norton, Kansas. Richard and Kay Lene lived in Manhattan, Kansas before moving to the farm in Furnas Co, Nebraska. In 1968, they moved to their farmhouse East of Norton, where Kay Lene still resides.
Richard was a very active member of the Norton Christian Church. He was an avid dairy farmer. He loved watching every sport there was. His kids loved to tease him by cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners while Richard was rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Richard played fast-pitch softball in his younger years. In later years, he enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball with the softball league. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Kay Lene Hahn, of their home in Norton; five sons, Kyle Hahn, Kurt, and wife, Cyndi Hahn, Kent, and wife, Julie Hahn, Kevin, and wife, Leigh Ann Hahn, Kendall Hahn, and fiancé, Magali Martinez; one daughter, Kayla, and husband, Kevin Wurm; 23 grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, R. Harold Hahn, paternal grandparents, and maternal grandparents.
