Obituary of Carol Dean Hrabe

IN LOVING MEMORY OF CAROL D. HRABE Carol Dean Hrabe, daughter of Lawrence and Frances (Atkinson) Covington, was born August 31, 1931, in Long Island, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, on February 2, 2010, at the age of 78. Carol attended rural grade school and later received her GED from the Northwest Kansas Technical College. On October 21, 1947, she married Loren Hardy in Woodruff, Kansas. They made their home in the Long Island/Almena area until his death. She later married Everett Hrabe on September 21, 1991, and they made their home in Norton. Following his death on August 24, 1998, she returned to Almena. Carol was a member of the Almena Congregational Church, Legion Auxiliary, and the Coterie Club. Survivors include: five sons, Larry Hardy, Long Island, Kansas; Dave and wife, Pam Hardy, Goodland, Kansas; Lee and wife, Kathy Hardy, Norton, Kansas; Gary Hardy, Almena; Mike and wife, Candace Hardy, Larned, Kansas; one daughter-in-law, Jan and husband, Tom Long, Woodruff, Kansas; six stepchildren, Randy, Dennis, Daniel, Ed, and Sherie Hrabe, and Terrie Wilgus; two brothers and their wives, Bob and Linda Covington, Almena; Don and Dixie Covington, Galva, Kansas; one sister and her husband, Kay and Ray Koehler, Buckland, Kansas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, and one son, Ronnie. A memorial has been established to the Hospice Services of Norton County.
