Obituary of Frances E. Burd

IN LOVING MEMORY OF FRANCES E. BURD Frances E. Burd, daughter of Raymond and Grace (Adkins) Dorothy, was born November 25, 1922, in Rapid City, South Dakota, and passed away at the Vintage Park Nursing Home in Gardner, Kansas, on February 12, 2015, at the age of 92. The family moved to Martin, South Dakota, where Frances grew up and attended school, graduating from the local high school. Frances married Russell Burd in 1940. They made their home in Norton, Kansas, except when they lived in Concordia, Kansas, from 1954 until 1972. Frances was a bookkeeper for the family business and also worked at the Credit Union. Her husband, Russell, passed away April 26, 1993. She had been living in Gardner, to be near her family. Frances was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Survivors include: two sons and their wives, Richard and Ruth Burd, Gardner, Kansas; Carl and Carolyn Burd, Lancaster, California; one brother and his wife, Robert and Elene Dorothy, Port Angeles, Washington; three grandchildren, Todd, Kim, and Scott Burd; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, one grandson, Jeffery Burd, and one step-grandson, Todd Hunsaker.
