Obituary of Dale L. Shearer

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DALE L. SHEARER Dale L. Shearer, son of Vernon and Rosie (Taylor) Shearer, was born July 25, 1924, in Norton County, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton on January 29, 2015, at the age of 90. Dale grew up in Norton County, attended rural grade school, and graduated from the Almena Rural High School. He also served in the U.S. Army. On May 24, 1950, Dale and Dorothy Edgett were united in marriage in Norton. They made their home in rural Edmond where Dale was a mail carrier out of Morland, Kansas. Dale attended the Lenora Church of God. He loved farm life especially the cattle and horses. He enjoyed his community and visiting with his mail route friends. Dale and Dorothy spent many fun hours square-dancing and playing pitch and pinochle with friends and family. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Shearer, of their home in Edmond; one daughter and her husband, Pamela and Melvin Applebury, Derby, Kansas; one son and his wife, Kurtis and Janine Shearer, Norton; three grandchildren, Melyssa Reeves, Austin Applebury, and Dale Shearer; one great-grandchild, Adrian Reeves; five brothers, Gerald, and wife, Anita Shearer, Norton; Dean, and wife, Nellie Shearer, Almena; Roger Shearer, Long Island, Kansas; Eldon, and wife, Lois Shearer, Alma, Nebraska; Lonnie, and wife, Pat Shearer, Almena; two sisters, Doris Linden, Norton; Dorothy Mulford, Logan, Kansas; other relatives and many friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Arlynn, one brother, Arnold, and one brother in infancy.
