Obituary of Malinda J. Van Dine

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MALINDA VANDINE Malinda VanDine, daughter of Gertrude VanDine and LeRoy Dowell, was born September 30, 1950, in Ford County, Kansas, and passed away at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas, on January 22, 2015, at the age of 64. Malinda lived with a foster family until she was 20 years old. Due to her mental handicap, she lived in various hospitals in Winfield and Parson, Kansas, before moving to Norton on November 7, 1988, when she became a part of the DSNWK family for 24 years. Due to her health, she had recently been living in the Andbe Home in Norton since 2010. Malinda enjoyed her life at DSNWK and the many activities that were offered during her day program. She was especially fond of cats, books and magazines, dolls, children, country music, TV shows with big trucks and trains, and the DSNWK van rides with the windows down. When she found something in a magazine she would get very excited and would run around the room sharing it with all her friends. She loved watching the traffic, especially the semi trucks. She was always very content and happy as long as she was able to enjoy the simple things in life. Malinda will be missed by her DSNWK family and all who knew her.
