Obituary of Raymond D Garrison

IN LOVING MEMORY OF RAYMOND D. GARRISON Raymond Dale (Hooter) Garrison, son of Hobart and Mary (Cibolski) Garrison, was born on July, 14, 1925, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, on January 12, 2015, at the age of 89. Raymond was born and raised in Norton. He attended school three miles west of Norton in a country school house on the Cibolski farm. Raymond served his country in the U.S. Army during the World War II (1944-1945) in the Philippines and Japan. Raymond and Clara (Kingham) were married in 1947 in Norton. Raymond moved to California to work in the oil fields where their two sons, Gerry and Ronald were born. He moved back to Kansas to work for the State Highway Department. Raymond then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to work at the Nevada Test Site, as a welder till retirement. Raymond then bought a farm close to the Garrison homestead north of Norton. Raymond was a member of the Teamsters Union #631, Operating Engineers Union Local #12, American Legion, V.F.W., and S.A.P.P.A. Raymond loved his family and animals. He also loved the farm life. He was an avid hunter and pilot and enjoyed repairing antique tractors. He was a friend to everyone. Survivors include: three sons, Gerry, and wife, Joyce, of Norton; Ronald, and wife, Deana, Pioche, Nevada; Curtis of Pahrump, Nevada; two brothers, Harold, and wife, Elaine of Texas; Hobart, and wife, Tina of Colorado; three grandchildren, Jason, Justin, and wife Patrice, all of Nevada, Alisha, and husband, Mike, and Jessica, all of Colorado; ten great-grandchildren; and one to be born in February; one great-great grandchild; and one to be born in February. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one daughter-in-law, and one son. FUNERAL SERVICE – Friday, January 16, 2015—10:30 AM PLACE – Enfield Funeral Home – Norton, KS INTERMENT – Norton Cemetery –Norton, KS MEMORIALS – Raymond Garrison Memorial Fund VISITATION – Thursday, January 15, 2015—5:00 P.M – 7:00 P.M at the Enfield Funeral Home in Norton.
