Obituary of Geneva Long

IN LOVING MEMORY OF GENEVA LONG Geneva Long, daughter of Aloysius and Marie (Costello) Mindrup, was born February 9, 1915, in New Almelo, Kansas, and passed away in Wichita, Kansas, on June 12, 2010, at the age of 95. Geneva spent her entire life in the New Almelo area. She was united in marriage to Howard Long on August 20, 1935. They made their home in New Almelo as farmers and raised eight children. Geneva was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Almelo, and was active in the altar society, school, and community of the church. Survivors include: two daughters and their husbands, Janet and Bill Leeker, and Sharon and Brian Hooks, all of Wichita; five sons, Ronald, of New Almelo; David and wife, Maribeth, of Cimarron, Kansas; Arnold, of Downs, Kansas; Dan, of Lenora, Kansas; Norman and wife, Cindy, of Casper, Wyoming; two sisters, Ann Schmidt and Jeanette Weishaar; one brother, Joseph; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, one great-grandson, three sisters, and three brothers. Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 15 from 03:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Enfield Funeral Home, 215 W. Main, Norton, KS and Tuesday, June 15 from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM at St. Joseph Auditorium - New Almelo, KS. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
