Obituary of Ronald Thomas Callaway
IN LOVING MEMORY
RONALD THOMAS CALLAWAY
Ronald Thomas Callaway, second son of Tom and Agnes (Valeka) Callaway, was born February 23, 1941, in Esbon, Kansas, and passed away November 21, 2014, in Larned, Kansas, at the age of 73.
Ron grew to manhood on the family farm. He attended school in the Esbon school district where he graduated in 1959. On June 10, 196, Ron and Linda June Boyer were united in marriage at the EVB Church in Ionia, Kansas. In January of 1962, the couple moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Ron attended Old Town Barber College. The couple was blessed with their first child, Pamela Jo on July 20, 1962. After Ron finished his schooling, the family moved to Mankato, Kansas, where Ron began his barber career. While in Mankato, the family was blessed with their second child, Jeffery Duane, on January 30, 1964. In February, the family moved to Almena, Kansas, where Ron purchased the Barber Shop and where he would eventually end his barber career of 25 years. On March 14, 1966, Steven Todd was born and the family was complete. Following his retirement from the barber shop, he went to work as an outside salesman for the Blish-Mize Company in Atchison, Kansas. In 2004, Ron retired from that position and later he and June moved to Larned.
While living in Almena, Ron was involved in the City Council, the Volunteer Fire Department, the Naphtali A.F. & A.M. #310 Masonic Lodge, coaching little league and refereeing junior and senior high school basketball and football games.
Survivors include: his wife; June Callaway, of their home in Larned; one daughter, Pamela, and husband, Scott Hagerty, Rozel, Kansas; two sons, Jeff, and wife, Janette Callaway, and Steve, and companion, Sherri, all of Almena; six grandchildren, Shala, and husband, Tyler Burt, Ashton Darling, Lisa, and husband, Josh Mussman, Michael Callaway, Cody Callaway, and Tyson Callaway; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Sophie Burt; one sister-in-law, Jo Mcammon, and her husband Mac; other relatives and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
